A young poodle had been living under wooden pallets in an industrial area all by himself. The poor dog was too afraid to seek help, but one day, help came to him.
Hope For Paws received a text about the poodle from a concerned citizen. Apparently, the 4-year-old poodle had been living on his own for months, living off food brought to him by some kind women.
The women would feed the dog, later named Kirby, but he was too afraid to go with them or let them get too close. That all changed, however, when JoAnn Wiltz with Hope For Paws arrived.
She spotted Kirby hiding under the pallets and offered him a cheeseburger. The hungry pup was so enamored with the burger that he didn’t notice the leash slipping around his neck until it was too late!
JoAnn was able to use the leash to pull Kirby out from his hiding spot and walk him to the car. After he was away from the pallets, he didn’t object much.
Once at the veterinarian, they discovered that Kirby was in surprisingly good health, though he needed some serious grooming.
Hope For Paws explained in the video below that he was “matted, filthy, had burrs and foxtails stuck to him everywhere, and he needed a complete makeover.”
Thankfully, JoAnn was able to give him that makeover, and now, he’s hardly recognizable!
Kirby was taken in as a foster by the L.A. Animal Rescue, who describes him as an “Easy going lil man.”
