HOW CIGARETTE SMOKE AFFECTS YOUR CHIHUAHUA

Secondhand smoke isn’t just a health threat to people. It can also hurt dogs and cats, veterinarians say.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 126 million Americans who don’t smoke are exposed to secondhand smoke in their homes, vehicles, workplaces, and public places. This exposure causes thousands of lung cancer and heart disease deaths among nonsmokers every year, according to the California Environmental Protection Agency.

Making the leap from the effects of secondhand smoke on humans to their effects on pets isn’t a big one, says veterinarian Carolynn MacAllister of Oklahoma State University.

“There have been a number of scientific papers recently that have reported the significant health threat secondhand smoke poses to pets,” MacAllister said. “Secondhand smoke has been associated with oral cancer and lymphoma in cats, lung and nasal cancer in dogs, as well as lung cancer in birds.”

Mouth cancer in cats MacAllister cited a study done by the Tufts College of Veterinary Medicine that showed that the number of cats living with mouth cancer (also known as squamous cell carcinoma) was higher for those living in homes with smokers than those who lived in smoke-free environments.

“One reason cats are so susceptible to secondhand smoke is because of their grooming habits,” MacAllister said. “Cats constantly lick themselves while grooming, therefore they lick up the cancer-causing carcinogens that accumulate on their fur. This grooming behavior exposes the mucous membranes of their mouth to the cancer-causing carcinogens.”

Cats living with smokers are also twice as likely to develop malignant lymphoma, a cancer that occurs in the lymph nodes and that is fatal to three out of four cats within 12 months of developing it.

Lung and nose cancer in dogs Studies have also shown that dogs living in a smoking household are susceptible to cancers of the nose and sinus area, particularly if they are a long-nosed breed, because their noses have a greater surface area that is exposed to carcinogens and a greater area for them to accumulate. Dogs affected with nasal cancer normally don’t survive for more than one year.

Short and medium-nosed dogs are more susceptible to lung cancer, “because their shorter nasal passage aren’t as effective at accumulating the inhaled secondhand smoke carcinogens,” MacAllister said. “This results in more carcinogens reaching the lungs.”

Birds are also at risk for lung cancer, as well as pneumonia, because their respiratory systems are hypersensitive to any type of air pollutant.

To help prevent animals from being adversely affected by smoking, pet owners who smoke should have a designated smoking area that is separated from the home or stop smoking altogether, MacAllister said.

Anxiety in Chihuahuas

Chill Out! How to Help Your Stressed-Out Chihuahua In today’s world, many of us dog owners have high-stress lifestyles – the demands of work, home, and family can really ramp up our anxiety level. What about our dogs, however – is it possible for our Chihuahuas to experience anxiety like we do?

The simple answer, of course, is yes. It’s true that many breeds are far more unflappable than our little friends. Chihuahuas in particular seem to be known for their nervous tendencies, and just like their human counterparts, our stressed out pups may worry about a number of different things. In some cases, the anxiety is so severe that it can affect our family routines or our relationships with our Chihuahuas; sometimes causing us to be worried, overprotective, upset, angry or even resentful of our pup’s behavior. And just as with people, constant anxiety might even have a worrisome effect on your little friend’s health, increasing their cortisol (stress hormone) levels and making their immune system less effective when they’re fighting illness. Every dog can show their anxiety in different ways, and it’s up to us to do some detective work if we notice that our Chis are acting differently. Shaking or trembling is a pretty typical behavior trait we notice in our diminutive dogs when they’re uneasy, but there are some other signs that might tip you off to the fact that your Chihuahua is too stressed out such as: A change in their appetite – yes, our friends tend to be picky eaters as a rule, but sometimes they’re not eating because they’re actually anxious • Weight loss or other health issues

• Unusually quiet or even depressed • Destructive behaviors like chewing on furniture or clothing • Increased whining, whimpering or barking • Clinginess • Reluctance to potty in their normal spot, or peeing and pooping in the house suddenly • Licking or chewing at themselves – compulsive grooming can often release endorphins (feel-good hormones), so some Chihuahuas may repeatedly lick or chew at their skin and fur to help relieve their anxious feelings • Aggressive behavior – it’s not unusual for a stressed or fearful dog to lash out in defense, or to physically redirect their feelings onto the closest target if they’re feeling extremely nervous Sometimes, it’s easy for us to see what’s upsetting our dogs, like the presence of scary noises or the fear of being separated from us. At other times, though, we might have no idea what’s causing our pups to quiver in misery – it’s not like they can tell us in words, exactly! Because we know that it’s far from fun to be always stressed out, it is important to get to the bottom of the issue that’s bothering your Chihuahua. To begin with, let’s take a quick look at some of the reasons why many of our little dogs might be stressed: • Separation from their owner or other animal friend – Chis tend to bond very closely with their families. • Boredom – Our smart little pooches need lots of interaction and play to give them enough mental stimulation. • Not enough physical activity – though small, Chis still need lots of exercise! • Fear – Especially if they’ve been poorly socialized, or have had a traumatic experience previously, Chihuahuas might be stressed out by new people, different environments, loud or unusual noises, and even other dogs or pets. • Changes in routine – Dogs are creatures of habit, and if we could actually talk to them, most of them would say they prefer a fairly predictable daily routine. This is an instinctual remnant from their wolfish ancestors – consistency in food source and shelter meant a greater rate of survival! • Health problems or chronic pain – it’s never fun being sick, and a Chi who’s feeling crummy all the time can definitely feel upset and anxious. • Losing a family member (human or animal) –Chihuahuas are little dogs with big hearts; it’s not uncommon for them to grieve after losing a close companion.

The good news is that there are many ways in which you can lend a helping paw to your anxious pup. To begin with, it’s always a good idea to have them fully examined by their veterinarian to help rule out any medical problems that could be causing their stress. Next, taking steps to enrich your Chihuahua’s day-to-day routine can go a long way towards lowering their stress level! Feeding a high-quality and nutritious diet, providing fresh water, and giving your pup a comfortable and secure place to rest (without fear of interruption) are great ways to keep them physically healthy, but your time and attention is important to your pup too. Make sure that your Chihuahua is getting lots of exercise from daily walks or backyard playtime, and give their brain a workout as well with interactive toys, obedience training, teaching fun tricks, or even games of ‘hide and seek’ or ‘find the treat’. We already know that our Chis welcome love and affection in large supply, but remember to avoid harsh corrections or punishment too, which can only make anxiety worse.

For some Chihuahuas, simply giving them more of our time can make a huge difference in how they feel; for others, however, the chronic cycle of stress and anxiety can be impossible to relieve without help, particularly in cases of severe separation anxiety, extreme under-socialization or fear caused by a really dire event. For these dogs, a program of slow and careful behavior modification supervised by a veterinary behaviorist is often the best option for recovery and relief. Occasionally, veterinarian prescribed anti-anxiety medications are an option for relieving severe anxiety too, which helps with behavior training and conditioning, allowing a dog to become calm enough to be able to experience certain situations without feeling constant stress. It’s true that there’s often no quick and easy solution to treating your Chihuahua’s anxiety, but that doesn’t mean it should merely be brushed off as ‘just a Chihuahua thing’. Emotional stress is a serious problem for many of our pups, and as their loving owners, we need to step forward and help them through it. After all, aren’t they always there for us? So, is your Chihuahua stressed out and anxious? Do you know why? Have you tried anything to to help your Chi with his/her stress? Did it work? Let us know in the comments!

Little Boy Sensitive Crying About How Cute Chihuahua Puppy Is

We have to admit, being on lockdown has made us a lot more prone to the odd sniffle or two, and we’ve found ourselves getting teary-eyed over everything from newborn babies to that moment when we can’t find a matching sock in the laundry pile. If that’s all sounding very familiar to you, then brace yourselves, because this video of a little boy crying over a Chihuahua is the sweetest thing you’ll see today!
Source: Twitter
Kids only tend to cry when they’re upset about things, but this sensitive little soul is feeling highly emotional about just how darn cute animals can be. The sweet little boy can be seen holding a Chihuahua puppy in his arms whilst he bawls his eyes out. His mom speaks from behind the camera, asking, “What’s wrong, son?” To which the little guy replies, “She’s just so beautiful!” He continues to cry and cradle the little pup lovingly in his arms. <

As if the moment couldn’t get any sweeter, the Chihuahua pup appears to be concerned about the little boy’s crying, and she knows exactly what to do to make things better! Pushing herself up onto the little lad’s chest, the caring pooch kisses the boy’s face before attempting to lick away his tears. It’s as if she’s saying, “There now, this will make it all better.”
Source: Twitter
Unfortunately, the sweet pup’s affection seems to have the opposite effect on the little guy, who becomes overwhelmed with the entire cuteness of the situation and cries even harder. The adorable video was uploaded to Facebook by Mia Anelli, CEO, and founder of INsight Animal Rescue in Los Angeles, and it became an instant viral sensation. Watch the full video below to see the little lad’s adorable reaction, and don’t forget to have those tissues on hand!https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FINsightAnimalRescue%2Fvideos%2F1099554650063245%2F&show_text=0&width=268 The video is viral, and people just can’t deal with the cuteness!
One user commented, ‘Really cute that the puppy keeps licking the young boy even as his cries,’ whilst another said, ‘This little chap will become a good man in future. Very rarely an animal lover like him can be a bad human being.’ Others wondered if the little boy has been able to adopt the puppy, with one person commenting, ‘Aww, what a sweet little boy. mommy needs to get him a puppy. That little puppy just loves him, he won’t stop kissing him.’ Another user agreed, saying, ‘OMG please tell me they adopted this dog for the little boy!!!’
Source: Twitter
For now, it remains a mystery to whether the little boy’s family adopted the sweet pup, but after watching this video, we think it would be crazy not to! This little guy is clearly a huge animal lover, and there’s nothing more special than the bond between an animal and a human. We know that this adorable pair would be the best of friends.

Why Do Chihuahuas Shiver

They tremble and shiver constantly. What is amiss with Chihuahuas that do this? In most cases, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Chihuahuas that tremble and shake. There is, however, a reason for it.
Chihuahuas may shake due to the abundance of energy that they have. Have you ever had too much caffeine? Did it make you shaky or nervous? If so, you can imagine what your Chihuahua is feeling when he is shaking for this reason. He simply needs to burn off that excess energy.

Chihuahuas also may shake and shiver when they are excited. This also goes back to the amount of energy they have, but many dogs shake when they get excited…just as many people do. This is nothing to be alarmed about, and the shaking will often either simmer down or stop altogether once the excitement has passed.
Chihuahuas shake when they are nervous or upset. Often shaking that occurs because the dog is nervous or upset will be accompanied by barking, whining, and other signs. In this instance, it is important to take careful note of the dog’s environment to see what it is that is upsetting him.
Are there strangers or strange animals in the area? Is there a storm brewing outside? Just look around to find the cause of the dog’s distress, and then either make that distress go away if it is in your power to do so, remove the dog from the situation or pet the dog and talk calmly to him to let him know that everything is okay. In many cases, if you are calm and you talk calmly to him, his nervousness will quickly pass.

Your Chihuahua may be shivering because he is cold. These are tiny dogs and they have that high metabolism. They lose body heat quickly, and just as you shake when you are cold, so will your Chihuahua. If he is shaking, he may simply need to be warmed up.

It doesn’t take an owner long to realize what is making his Chihuahua shake and shiver and to learn the appropriate course of action to take. It’s just a matter of paying attention to the dog, to what is going on around the dog, and trying various things to see if the shaking stops or not. The shaking doesn’t necessarily have to stop, and you should note that shaking and shivering has nothing to do with the health of your Chihuahua.

Teach Your Chihuahua to Go to His Bed

When you want to answer the front door without your dog’s a**istance and just want your Chihuahua to be elsewhere, it’s useful to teach him to go to his bed or crate and stay there for a few minutes. The challenge here is that you’ll be telling your dog to leave his place at the center of what’s going on, and most dogs (except the shy ones) like to be in the thick of the action. For this reason, it may take sustained practice to get your Chihuahua to go to his corner every time you ask. Before you start this exercise, make sure that your Chihuahua really loves his den, whether that’s a crate lined with comfortable bedding, or a basket or padded bed. Giving him somewhere to go for downtime that gives him a view of what’s going on but that isn’t on the main path throuTh the house will appeal to him. Teach your dog to go somewhere specific for a limited time, and not just to settle down wherever he’s comfortable. 1. Once you’ve established that your pet’s rest area is as appealing as possible, start to train when the opportunity arises, and reinforce him when he goes there of his own accord. The cue for this is usually “In your bed” or “In your crate.” (If it’s something you’ve taught in some form already, use the cue that your pet is already used to.) As your dog heads off there, follow him, and as he goes in his bed or crate, say “In your bed” and give him a treat. Repeat this whenever you see him go to his bed of his own accord. 2. When you’ve established that going to his bed, if noticed, equals a reward, try sending him there with the cue. Again, do this over a period of time—don’t rush it, and consistently cue and reward.

3. When he is reliably going to his bed as you ask him to, set up a situation in which things are going on around him—get a family member to ring the doorbell, or ask several people to gather in the kitchen—and then cue him to go to his bed. This is usually the slowest step; many dogs will rush to their bed in a token gesture, then rush back out to take part in whatever activity is going on. If this happens, accompany him back to his bed, with the cue, and treat again. With patience and persistence, most dogs will manage a stay of a few minutes—just long enough for you to do something, such as answer the door, without an enthusiastic canine interruption. What he learns That sometimes he can’t be in the middle of everything, and he has to stay out of the way for a short period. 10 Reasons Why Chihuahuas are Awesome

Chihuahuas are small, affordable, fun, loyal and easy to care for pets. Check out these 10 reasons why Chihuahuas make a great pet!
With their small heads, big eyes and perky ears, Chihuahuas are one of the most recognizable dog breeds. Here are 10 reasons why you should consider a Chihuahua:

1. Chihuahuas Stay Small

For small dog lovers, chihuahuas are a dream. They typically weigh between two and six pounds and grow to be seven to nine inches in height. While different breed mixes might be a little larger or smaller, chihuahua parents enjoy all of the perks of having a fun-sized pet.
2. Chihuahuas Have Long Lifespans

While small dogs tend to live longer than larger dog breeds anyway, chihuahuas enjoy particularly long life spans averaging 13 – 15 years.
<3. Chihuahuas are Loyal
Chihuahuas are known for many things and being loyal to their pet parents is one of them. Chihuahuas enjoy spending quality time with you whether it’s sitting on your lap during your leisure time or taking a ride around town with you.

4. Chihuahuas Have Fun, Playful Personalities

Though chihuahuas are loyal and affectionate with their owners, they are anything but dull and love to play! However, no two chihuahuas are the same, so if you have a friend with a chihuahua, your pet is likely to be quite different and unique.
5. Chihuahuas are Smart & Easy to Train

Most dog breeds are bright, but some are brighter and easier to train than others. Chihuahuas in particular are a bright breed and are, in turn, easy to train for obedience.
6. Chihuahuas Generally Don’t Mind Playing Along

One thing pet parents love doing is dressing their fur babies up for special occasions or just to keep them warm and cozy. Being the loving, loyal and easy to train pets that they are, chihuahuas have no problem wearing clothes whether it’s a cozy sweater and paw-protectant booties or a Batman costume for Halloween.
7. Chihuahuas are Great Guard Dogs

Because they are loyal and animated, chihuahuas make great guard dogs. They are a vocal breed, and are wary of outsiders, so if someone approaches your home or aims to intrude, your chihuahua is going to make sure everyone knows about it.
8. Chihuahuas are Affordable to Feed

Because of their small size, it logically follows that chihuahuas are easy and are affordable to feed as they do not eat a lot.
9. Chihuahuas are Easy to Care For
<Chihuacorner.com
Not only are chihuahuas easy to feed, but they are also easy to bathe and to groom. They only need about 20–minutes of exercise per day, which they can easily get inside of the house or on a walk around the block on a lead.
10. Chihuahuas Come in Many Breeds and Breed Mixes

Finally, the chihuahua breed has a lot of diversity. There are seven different chihuahua breeds, and there are multiple chihuahua breed mixes. Chihuahuas’ physical characteristics tend to prevail in breed mixes and mixed-breed pets often enjoy the genetic perks (such as increased health) a**ociated with whatever breed they are mixed with.

FETÖ’cü Çiçek adım adım takip edildi

ABD’li yetkililerden oluşan bir heyet, Fetullahçı Terör Örgütüyle (FETÖ) ilgili Türkiye’nin ABD’ye sunduğu yeni deliller konusundaki gelişmeleri ele almak üzere 3-4 Ocak’ta Ankara’da görüşmeler yapacak.

Görüşmeler, FETÖ elebaşı Fetullah Gülen ve yakın çevresinin darbe girişimindeki rollerinin ortaya konulması ve ABD tarafının harekete geçmesini sağlamak açısından önem arz ediyor.

Ankara Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, 15 Temmuz 2016 darbe girişimin sözde sivil imamları Adil Öksüz, Kemal Batmaz, Hakan Çiçek, Harun Biniş ve Nurettin Oruç’un aynı yıl ocak, mart ve haziran ayları içerisinde ABD’de bulunduğunu tespit etmişti.

Söz konusu isimlerin Fetullah Gülen’le darbenin ön toplantılarını yaptığı biliniyor.

Darbe girişiminin ardından Akıncı Üssü’nden kaçarken yakalanan isimlerden Hakan Çiçek’in telefonu arazi aramalarında bulunmuştu.

Siber Suçlarla Mücadele Daire Başkanlığında incelenen ve Ankara Emniyet Müdürlüğü Terörle Mücadele Şube Müdürlüğü bünyesinde oluşturulan 12 kişilik özel ekip tarafından değerlendirilen telefondan çıkan dijital izlerde, cihazın nerelerde kullanıldığı anlaşılmıştı.

Çiçek’e ait ABD numaralı GSM hattının ilk kez 7 Mart 2016’da FETÖ elebaşı Fetullah Gülen’in kaldığı Pensilvaya’daki çiftlik evinde aktive edildiği tespit edilmişti.

Telefonun aktive olduğu andan itibaren kaydettiği lokasyon verilerinden koordinatlar çıkarılmıştı.

Türk yetkililer, tüm bu dijital izleri 13 Temmuz 2018’de Amerikalı meslektaşlarıyla yaptıkları toplantıda masaya koyarak FETÖ’nün darbe girişimindeki rolünü kanıtladı.

ABD tarafı da verileri alarak üzerinde kendi değerlendirmesini yapmaya başladı.

ABD’nin yeni durum değerlendirmesi bekleniyor

Ankara’da 3-4 Ocak’ta Dışişleri, İçişleri ve Adalet Bakanlığı yetkililerin katılımıyla gerçekleşecek toplantıda, ABD’nin yeni delillere ilişkin değerlendirmesi öğrenilecek.

ABD tarafı, 18 eyalette FETÖ bağlantılı kuruluş ve isimlerin vize usulsüzlüğü ile kara para aklama gibi organize suç işlerine ilişkin daha önce başlattığı ön incelemelerdeki son durumu aktaracak.

ABD’de, 2013’te Kongre üyelerinin Azerbaycan’a yaptığı gezinin finansmanıyla ilgili yasaların ihlal edilmesinden sorumlu tutulan ve ağustosta Ermenistan’da tutuklanan Kemal (Kevin) Öksüz’ün, ABD’ye iade edilmesi son dönemde dikkat çekici gelişmeler arasında yer almıştı.

Türk yetkililer, Öksüz meselesinin, FETÖ’nün ABD’de okul ve dernek gibi çeşitli kuruluşlar üzerinden yaptığı yasa dışı işlerin açığa çıkmasında ve ABD kamuoyunun ilgisini toplama noktasında dönüm noktası olabileceğini belirtiyor.

Dışişleri Bakanı Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, FBI tarafından örgüt hakkında yürütülen soruşturmayı ciddiye aldığını vurgulayarak, şüpheci yaklaştıklarını ancak bazı neticeleri görmeye başladıklarını söylemişti.

Çiçek’in telefonundan çıkan kanıt

15 Temmuz darbesinin sivil imamlarından Hakan Çiçek’in cihazı aktive ettikten sonra, kullanıcı adını ve şifresini unutmamak için LivePhoto tekniğiyle bunları yazdığı bir kağıdın fotoğrafını çektiği ortaya çıktı.

Çektiği fotoğrafı telefonunda saklayan Çicek’in kaydettiği görsele AA ulaştı.

Görselde, sanığın kendi el yazısıyla telefon numarasını, “suneyes34@gmail.com” mail adresiyle kullandığı icloud hesabını ve şifresini not ettiği görülüyor.

Bu görsel, Akıncı Üssü’ündeki arazi aramasında bulunan cihazın Çiçek’e ait olduğunun kanıtlarından birini oluşturuyor.
AA koordinatların izini sürdü

ABD’deki AA ekibi, Hakan Çiçek’in telefonunda kayıtlı koordinatları New York kent merkezinde navigasyon uygulamasına girdi.

New York’tan yola çıkan AA ekibini, “40.870487,-75.32150” ile “40.870500,-75.321300” koordinatları doğrudan Fetullah Gülen’in Pensilvanya’da kaldığı çiftliğe götürdü.

Her kilovatsaati 48 kuruştan elektrik tüketecek.
